What is Non-Destructive Testing?

Non-Destructive Testing, or NDT for short, is the variety of inspection and analysis methods that is used for the inspection and/or evaluation of materials, parts and components, for defects that could lead to catastrophic failure or to measure material geometric properties to ensure asset integrity.

In simpler terms, NDT inspection involves the examination of an object without causing damage or destroying the object being examined.

NDT is an excellent tool for quality control and is a cost effective way to ensure the safe and reliable operation of machinery and equipment in various industries. While there are a variety of inspection methods in the field of Non-Destructive Testing the most commonly used inspections are Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic Inspection and Eddy Current Inspection.
The field of Non-Destructive Testing can be performed all throughout the life cycle of a material, part or component including product design, material selection, manufacturing, processing, in-service testing, maintenance, repair, overhaul, asset integrity and quality assurance protection.
